Student Nurses Association (SNA)



Student Nurses Association is constituted to initiate student leadership, promote cultural and educational activities, and network and connect with fellow nursing students for advice and support.

Objectives:


To help students to uphold the dignity of the profession for which they are qualifying. To encourage leadership abilities and help students to advance in their profession. To encourage the students to participate actively in curricular and co-curricular activities.

Functions


  • To encourage the students to participate in various sports and cultural activities
  • To act as a liaison between nursing faculty and nursing students.
  • Plans calendar of events every year.
  • Conducts General Body meetings once a year and executive meetings as and when required.
  • Elects SNA office bearers once a year.
  • Maintain documents and registers of meetings and financial expenditures.

NSS


National service scheme (NSS) was started to establish a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community.. Every year 100 students are enrolled in NSS. The NSS unit of St.Thomas College of nursing conducts health awareness programmes, announcement rally’s, campus cleaning, outreach programmes and important day celebrations.

Current NSS Programme Officer: Mrs.Maya M Nair, Assistant Professor, Department Obstetrics and Gyneacological Nursing

Activities of NSS are,

Various programmes are held annually within the campus and nearby rural areas. Volunteers are involved in activities such as

  • Cleaning
  • Planting trees
  • Awareness programmes on issues like social problems education and cleanliness
  • Awareness rallies
  • Health camp
  • Yoga day

Valuate the academic and non academic performance of children and evaluate the college activities

Functions


  • Update periodically on the academic and non-academic performance of students.
  • Address the concerns of the parents with regards to students.
  • Foster a healthy teacher–student-parent relationship

Frequency


General Body – Once a year

Executive – Twice in a year
